CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS AND NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE, PCR QUALITATIVE

Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infection. Up to 70% of women and 30% of men may be asymptomatic. Infection can lead to tubal pregnancy, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and infertility. Gonorrhea is the second most commonly reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease (STD). The majority of urethral infections caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoeae among men produce symptoms that cause them to seek curative treatment, but among women, infections often do not produce recognizable symptoms until complications like PID have occurred.
